Autumn is just around the corner, temperatures are cooling down, and there’s a ton of fun events going on in the epilepsy community this month!

 

Autumn is just around the corner, temperatures are cooling down, and there’s a ton of fun events going on in the epilepsy community this month!  It’s the perfect time of year to get out-and-about with your friends. Check out this month’s calendar below to see what fun events are going on near you.

These are the September events for the epilepsy community. If your organization has an event, or if you know of an event not featured here, please let us know so we can include it in our calendar. Send an email with all the information, including the URL and contact info to SLMarketing@brainsentinel.com. Please try to give us at least one-month notice, if possible. This will ensure that we can get it on our calendar as early as possible, giving our readers a little time to plan.



Event: Studio E: Ages 6-12, Epilepsy Foundation Central & South Texas
When: Saturday, September 7 from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM CDT
Where: Annie Creative Studio for Wellness, San Antonio, TX

Description: This Studio E work group on Saturdays until the specified end date for ages 6-12. Studio E offers group art sessions, allowing participants to explore their creativity, meet others with epilepsy and express themselves in an open, accepting and safe group setting. According to research, people living with epilepsy reported increased self-esteem after participating in Studio E. During the program, participants work with an art instructor using a variety of artistic media, including painting, sketching and sculpting. Because some things are easier to “say” through art, Studio E provides people impacted by epilepsy a unique opportunity to express themselves and open up about their experiences with the condition.

Event: Autism Beach Bash, Autism Family Services of New Jersey

Description: Thank you for joining Autism Family Services of New Jersey for the 15th Annual Autism Beach Bash in Belmar, NJ.  Autism Beach Bash benefits individuals and their families living with autism spectrum disorders. This is a free event which will be held on Sunday, September 8, 2019.  The day includes organized activities, DJ, arts and crafts, informational vendors, lunch, beach games and more. Families have an opportunity to network and partake in organized activities throughout the day.

Event: Webinar: Rescue Medication Delivery Methods and Future Therapies, CURE

Description: Seizures can be both unpredictable and unrelenting. When a seizure becomes an emergency, rescue medications provide immediate relief and help prevent the need for emergency care. While existing therapies do stop these epilepsy emergencies in many patients, some are still searching for an option that works for them. In the second part of this two-part webinar series on September 10, you will gain insight from Dr. Nathan Fountain of the University of Virginia on how different rescue medications can be administered, promising research, and what rescue therapies are currently in the pipeline. His presentation will include a look at the rescue medication pipeline and the new delivery methods which may become available to patients.

Event: Colorado Springs Strides for Epilepsy 5K, Epilepsy Foundation Colorado

Event: 8th Annual Into The Light Walk for Epilepsy Awareness, Epilepsy Foundation Metropolitan New York

Description: Did you know 1 in 26 Americans will develop epilepsy in their lifetime?  There are approximately 15,000 Delawareans coping with epilepsy right now. Event: Tanya’s Trot for Epilepsy 2019, Epilepsy Pralid Inc

Description: Tanya's Trot was formed in honor and memory of Tanya Johannes who passed away in November 2010 from SUDEP, Sudden Unexplained Death in Epilepsy. Over the past 7 years, Tanya's Trot has raised more than $150,000 for epilepsy services and awareness activities. Help us reach our 2019 goal by registering today!
